Starting March 7th, Brew & View presents a Peter Jackson triple bill. The first feature is his newest release, The Lovely Bones. After years of Sci-Fi and fantasy movies, Jackson returns to dark storytelling in this tale of murder and vengeance. Digging into the pre-hobbit Peter Jackson catalog for our next two features, we find The Frighteners as our second film. A horror/comedy or comedy/horror starring Michael J. Fox as necromancing con man in his most enjoyable to watch role since Marty McFly. Finally, we have Jackson's first mainstream offering, Heavenly Creatures. This film brought Jackson his first Oscar nomination, and introduced the world to Kate Winslet, in her first big screen role.
Coming soon to Brew & View, a Guy Ritchie triple feature. Starting with his newest offering, Sherlock Holmes. As much an action movie as a mystery tale, Robert Downey Jr. continues his hot streak in the title role. Our middle feature is Ritchie's third film, Snatch. You thought those accents were great the first time you saw it, just wait til you've been drinking. And Brad Pitt is in it, and people seem to like that guy. Finally, Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. One of the most entertaining films ever made. If you've never seen it on the big screen, now's your chance.
Vampires. They were awesome before Twilight came along and they'll be awesome when Twilight goes away. Daybreakers, a recent release, is set in the future and feature a population dominated by vampires faced with a waning supply of blood. Ah, The Lost Boys. Before Twilight, and 24, and The Two Coreys, there was The Lost Boys. What a teen vampire movie should be. And last, but not least, From Dusk Til Dawn. Cheech Marin's alone is worth the pric of admission.
